C. S. Harris
C. S. Harris' unwilling hero Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin is a former cavalry officer in the Napoleonic Wars who returns to England to recover from battle fatigue. In the first book of the series, What Angels Fear, he finds himself accused of murder. With the help of a street urchin Tom and other unlikely allies, he is able to clear his name and catch the real murderer. Tom is a continuing character in the other St. Cyr books. St. Cyr's lover, actress Kate Boleyn, generates much of the suspense and romance in When Gods Die and When Mermaids Sing. The Sebastian St. Cyr books are filled with suspense and swash-buckling action. The characters and customs of the Regency Period are historically accurate, as would be expected of an author as knowledgeable about history as C. S. Harris. She is a former academic with a PhD in European history. Harris is also the author of seven historical romances and a nonfiction book about
the French Revolution written under the name (her own) of Candice
Proctor.
