Elaine Viets

Elaine Viets has worked at most of the menial jobs she writes about in her Dead End Job series of mystery novels. Unlike her hapless sleuth in this series Helen Hawthorne, she has not clobbered her husband with a crowbar when she caught him with their neighbor. While on the run from her ex-husband and the courts, Helen takes on these menial jobs and discovers murders.
   Viets' second series is the Josie Marcus Mystery Shopper series which is set in the author's hometown of St. Louis. The third and most recent series stars Francesca Vierling.
    Elaine Viets was a regular columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for 25 years. She has served on the boards of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America. She is married to actor Don Crinklaw and now lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
