About the Author:

Donna Leon

Donna Leon was born in New Jersey and taught English Literature for the University of Maryland's University College in Europe. She has taught in American schools in Iran, China, and Arabia. Although she has lived in Venice,Italy for over twenty years, her books have not been translated from English into Italian. She continues to write her Guido Brunetti detective novels while pursuing her great love of baroque music.
Her novels are set in Venice where police commissioner Guido Brunetti investigates crimes and murders. He is an honest policeman working within a corrupt system  to exact justice for his beloved Venice. Leon descriptions of Brunetti's harsh working conditions, contrasted with his loving home life, give reader's insight to Brunetti's character.
