About the Author:

Dan Brown
Dan Brown's best sellers, Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code, are the result of his interest in cryptography and symbols . In The Da Vinci Code his protagonist, Robert Langdon, is hired to analyze mysterious codes and symbols that appear to threaten accepted religious beliefs. He is pursued by various assassins who want to stop him. Intricate plots played out across many countries are intertwined with the science vs. religious theme and portrayed by characters of the various religious factions who feel their beliefs are in jeopardy. The Da Vinci Code has been made into a commercially successful movie. An Angels and Demons movie is in the process of being filmed. Brown has been criticized for what some people see as an attack on the Christian religion. He was raised in a strong Christian background and feels his books are meant to open discussion about faith. His next book, The Solomon Key, will be released in early 2007. It will involve the Free Masons with much of the action occurring around Washington, D.C. Dan Brown also wrote Deception Point and Digital Fortress. Both are more thrillers than mysteries. Brown is also a songwriter and pop singer. He credits his wife, Blythe, for her assistance and research for his work. Brown was born in New Hampshire and continues to live there with his family.
