About the Author:

Carl Hiaasen
Carl Hiaasen was born and raised in Florida, attended college (University of Florida), worked as a journalist on the Miami Herald, writes novels set in Florida, and continues to make his home in Florida. He wrote investigative articles and independent off-beat articles during his journalist years. His first novels were written with a fellow journalist, Bill Montalbano, but his first solo novel, Tourist Season, was a huge success. It was insightful, satirical, and a well-told crime story. Because the theme of many of his novels is the destruction of Florida by developers, his novels are also categorized as "environmental thrillers." Skinny Dip was nominated by Dagger Awards for the Best Novel of 2005. Hiaasen and his first wife, Connie Lyford whom he married after graduating from high school, have one son. He and his second wife, Fenia Clizer, also have one son. He continues to live and write in Florida.
