Qiu Xiaolong

  When Qiu Xiaolong came to the United States from Shanghai, China, to write a book about T. S. Eliot, he was forced to remain here to avoid persecution by the Chinese governement. Since then he has written several mysteries featuring Chinese Chief Inspector Chen Cao. Inspector Chen is much like Xiaolong himself: they are both poets, both are interested in the English language poets, and both are doing work they have the skills to do but not the real interest to do. In his recent A Case of Two Cities, Xiaolong sets his story in St. Louis and Chen visits the home of T. S. Eliot.
   Qiu Xiaolong lives In St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife and daughter.
