Nancy Atherton
Nancy Atherton has written thirteen cozy Aunt Dimity mysteries set in England. Although she has not lived there, Ms. Atherton loves England and travels there frequently.
Ms. Atherton took up writing as a way to pay off credit card debts run up by a former poor male partner. The first Aunt Dimity novel, Aunt Dimity's Death, was published in 1992, was so successful that she has appeared in twelve other mystery novels.
Ms.Atherton is mysterious about her life disclosing only the briefest bits of
information. She has five brothers and two sisters and was born and
raised in Chicago. She attended the University of Chicago and was
enrolled in the PhD program, which she did not complete. She currently
lives in either a plain house in Colorado Springs or a farmhouse in a
rural section of Illinois.
