Rainbow Six
About the Author:

Tom Clancy
Tom Clancy, an American author of Cold War political and espionage thrillers, popularized the "techno thriller" genre. His popular protagonist, Jack Ryan, was introduced in The Hunt for Red October, where he assisted in the defection of a respected Soviet naval captain, Marko Ramius, and the most advanced missile sub of the Soviet Union, Red October. The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears became commercially successful films with actors Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck playing Jack Ryan. Clancy's second famous character, CIA operative John Clark, was played on screen by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber. A Soviet double agent known as The Cardinal, Sergey Golovko, and John Clark first appeared in The Cardinal of the Kremlin. John Clark was later featured in several novels beginning with Rainbow Six, which included an international black-ops group, Rainbow Six, first introduced in Clear and Present Danger and lead by Domingo "Ding" Chavez. Rainbow Six was released at the same time as a video game of the same name. Clancy has written over 70 novels, 18 books for young adults, and 8 biography and non-fiction books to date.
