Stephen
J. Cannell has created over forty successful TV series and scripted many hit
movies. His first novel, The Plan, was
published in 1995, and there have been eleven more novels since then. His
recent White Sister is the sixth in a
series of thrillers featuring LAPD detective Shane Scully. In White Sister Scully’s wife Alexa, who is
head of the LAPD Detective Services Group, disappears. When her car is found
with a fellow police officer brutally murdered and handcuffed in the front
seat, Scully sets out to find her and clear her of David Slade’s murder. The “White
Sister” of the novel, Stacy, is a white woman who was raised in the black
community of Compton, has adopted the attitudes of the
gangsta rap scene, and is married to rap mogul Louis Maluga. Scully suspects
she knows what happened to Alexa. When he disobeys his superiors’ orders to not
become involved in this case, he becomes mired in troubles before he can find
Alexa and the murderer and save his and Alexa’s reputations. The other Shane Scully novels are: The Tin Collectors, The Viking Funeral, Hollywood Tough, Vertical Coffin, and Cold Hit.
