About the Author:

Nevada Barr

Nevada Barr was once a National Park Service ranger. Her protagonist, Anna Pigeon,  is also a park ranger in a series of mystery novels set in various national parks. The Track of the Cat, Barr's first Anna Pigeon novel, was set in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas where she once worked. Anna Pigeon is a tough, wine drinking law enforcement park ranger. In Track of the Cat  Pigeon discovers a ranger's body that appears to have been pawed to death by a mountain lion. She hunts down his murderer when she learns he has been a victim of a human killer. Barr won the Agatha Award for Best First Novel of 1993 for Track of the Cat.
Barr was born in Nevada (but actually named for her father's favorite character in a book) and raised in California. She and her husband now live in Clinton, Mississippi.
