Lee Child

  Lee Child was a successful director of BBC TV shows who turned to writing crime thrillers when he lost his job through cut backs. He created Jack Reacher, a former American military policeman and Special Units member, who is wandering around the United States solving crimes and making the bad guys pay for their misdeeds. The first book, Killing Floor, won the Anthony Award and Barry Award for best novel in 1997. As of 2007 Child has twelve published books, all featuring Jack Reacher.
   Lee Child is British-born. He has a country house in the south of France and an apartment in Manhattan where he is currently living with his wife. He also has a grown daughter.
