Roma
About the Author:

Steven Saylor
Steven Saylor's historical mystery novels set in the ancient Roman times of Julius Caesar and Cicero. There are presently twelve books in the Roma Sub Rosa series that feature detective Gordianus the Finder. Although Gordianus has a most unusual family, being married to his ex-slave and having adopted children, Saylor weaves details of Gordianus and his family into the stories giving the reader a history lesson in Roman daily life. The novels and stories have Gordianus sleuthing at times of epochal Roman events, such as the slave revolt of Spartacus in Arms of Nemesis and Rubicon after Caesar crossed the Rubicon and plunged Rome into a civil war. Steven Saylor studied history and The Classics at the University of Texas at Austin. He has earned numerous awards for his Gordianus mysteries: Lambda Literary Award, the Crime Writers of America Ellis Peters Historical Dagger Award and others. He and his partner divide their time between homes in Berkeley, California, and Austin, Texas.
