Elvis Cole

   Elvis Cole is Robert Crais'  hard-boiled private investigator who has a great concern for women and children. A Vietnam veteran he is skilled in many of the martial arts yet claims he wishes he were Peter Pan. He has been compared to Robert Parker's Spencer in that he is tough, chivalric, loves the city he lives in, and has a bigger and tougher sidekick to back him up. His pal is Joe Pike, an ex-Marine, part-time mercenary who doesn't seem to have any problems with his conscience.
