Adam Dalgliesh

Adam Dalgliesh first appeared in P. D. James' first crime novel, Cover Her Face, in 1962 and has been featured in eighteen mysteries since then. Dalgliesh, as the poetry-loving and cultured Inspector, later Commander, out of New Scotland Yard, is called upon whenever there is a "sensitive" situation involving members of the upper class.
