After her lawman husband was killed by drug dealers in the first crime novel in the Joanna Brady series, Desert Heat, Joanna Brady became the Sheriff of Cochise County, Arizona. She wanted to fight crime as her husband did, but she had a nine-year old daughter to raise. There are twelve Joanna Brady novels.
