John Rain

   John Rain is the half Japanese-half American freelance assassin in the thrillers written by Barry Eisler. He had plastic surgery to hide his Caucasian features and dyes his hair brown so as to appear more Asian. He is skilled in all the martial arts and is especially skillful in hand to hand combat, but he is most adept at making his victims appear to have died of natural causes. He operates under his own sense of right and wrong, and while he doesn't have a conscience about killing, he does have feelings about other things. He is capable of maintaining friendships and falling in love. He has a young son who lives with his mother, a jazz pianist, and does not know of Rain's existence.
