Evan Hunter
Evan Hunter, born Salvatore A. Lombino, was born in New York and wrote prolifically under several pseudonyms. He wrote 25 books under the name of Evan Hunter, which name he adopted legally in 1952, and 57 87th Precinct detective novels under the name Ed McBain. His novel, The Blackboard Jungle, was made into a movie and has been performed on the stage often.
Hunter also used various other pseudonyms: Curt Cannon, Richard Marsten, Hunt Collins, Ezra Hannon, and John Abbott.
Evan Hunter was living in Weston, Connecticut when he died in 2005. He has three living sons.
