A Welcome Grave

About the Author:

Michael Koryta

Michael Koryta wrote Tonight I Said Goodbye when he was 20. It was published when he was 21. That book won the St. Martin's Press/Private Eye Writers of America "Best First Private Eye Novel"  and was nominated for an Edgar for the Best First Novel Award. Despite working for a detective agency and teaching for the Indiana University School of Journalism, Koryta has found time to write and have published two other novels, A Welcome Grave and Sorrow's Anthem, and is working on his fourth. Lincoln Perry and his partner Joe Pritchard run a detective agency in Cleveland, Ohio.
Although Kortya was born and raised and continues to reside in Bloomington, Indiana, his novels are set in Cleveland, Ohio. His parents grew up in Cleveland, and Koryta  spent a great deal of time visiting there. His descriptions of streets and locations are dead-on. While his admiration for writers Dennis Lehane and Dashiell Hammett have influenced him to write private eye novels, Koryta's fast-paced style is his own.
