Bill Pronzini’s 32nd
“Nameless Detective” novel, SAVAGES, will
reach bookstores in June, 2007. Pronzini claims he based “Nameless” on himself.
They are both somewhat out of shape and prefer to lie on the couch and read
pulp magazines. Since Pronzini is one of the most prolific writers of detective
novels, western novels, and short stories in America,
he doesn’t spend much time on his couch reading. He has edited numerous
collections and collaborated on three books with Jefferey Wallmann under the
pseudonym William Jeffrey. John Quincannon, a PI in the west at the turn of the
century, is the protagonist in three novels, John Quincannon, Beyond the Grave (co-authored with his wife,
novelist Marcia Muller), and Quincannon’s
Game. He also writes under the names of Alex Saxon, Jack Foxx, and Brett
Halliday. Pronzini has been
awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Private Eye Writers of America,
has received two Shamus Awards, and has been nominated three times for The
Edgar. Pronzini lives with
his wife, novelist Marcia Muller, in San Francisco,
California. Pronzini’s most
recent “Nameless” novels: Nightcrawlers,
Spook, Bleeders, Crazybone.
